AD5X

Overview

The Flashforge AD5X is a compact CoreXY desktop FDM printer built around its Independent Feeding System (IFS), a 4-slot filament box that feeds a single nozzle through a color switcher, letting it produce 4-color or mixed-material (including flexible TPU) prints without a dedicated multi-material unit. It pairs this with a 300°C all-metal direct extruder, automatic bed leveling, and a new cold build plate designed to cut warping and heated-bed energy use versus earlier Flashforge machines. Rated for speeds up to 600 mm/s and 20,000 mm/s² acceleration, the AD5X targets hobbyists and prosumers who want color or multi-material capability without stepping up to a full tool-changer, and makers who print display pieces, props, or signage that benefit from multiple colors in one job. Its open frame keeps the price accessible but means ABS/ASA users will want the optional enclosure kit for temperature stability and fume control. The base unit ships without a camera (sold separately as an add-on module), and the IFS, while simpler than a full tool-changer, still purges some filament at each color change, so multi-color jobs use more material than single-color prints. Slicing is handled through Flashforge's own Orca-Flashforge/FlashPrint software.
