Form 4L

Overview

The Form 4L shares the Form 4's Low Force Display (LFD) light engine and 405 nm LED-based print technology but scales it up to a 353 x 196 x 350 mm (24.2-liter) build volume — about 4.6 times larger than the standard Form 4 — using a larger backlight array (145 LEDs vs. 60) and an LPU 4L processing unit with a slightly larger 46 µm pixel size. This makes the Form 4L suited to professionals and manufacturers who need to print large single parts (full-scale prototypes, large dental or medical models) or batch multiple smaller parts in one run for higher throughput, rather than hobbyist use. Like the Form 4, it uses the same 405 nm LFD technology and resin cartridge system, and runs on Formlabs' PreForm software with Dashboard cloud management. As with all Formlabs SLA printers, the Form 4L is part of a larger workflow, not a standalone unit — it requires the larger-capacity Form Wash L and Form Cure L post-processing stations (sized for its bigger parts) for proper cleaning and post-curing, and resin remains a per-liter consumable cost on top of the printer itself.
